Zusammenfassung:

Es wird über das Auftreten einer okularen malignen Histiozytose bei fünf Berner Sennenhunden berichtet. Alle diese Hunde mussten in einem unterschiedlich kurzen Zeitraum post enucleationem im Alter von sieben bis acht Jahren euthanasiert werden. Histologisch sind die okularen Tumoren durch proliferierende neoplastische Histiozyten, Riesenzellen und Erythrophagozytose charakterisiert. Immunhistochemische Marker wie Lysozym, CD3 und CD79a sowie elektronenmikroskopische Befunde bestätigen, dass es sich bei den Tumorzellen um neoplastische Histiozyten handelt. Zusammen mit den anamnestischen Daten ist davon auszugehen, dass die Augentumoren die okulare Manifestation einer Systemblastomatose darstellen.

Summary:

The occurrence of ocular malignant histiocytosis in five Bernese mountain dogs is reported. All of these dogs had to be euthanized within short time intervals after enucleation of the tumor-bearing eye at the age of seven to eight years. The ocular tumors are characterized histologically by proliferating neoplastic histiocytes, giant cells, and erythrophagocytosis. Immunohistochemical markers, like lysozyme, CD3 and CD79a, as well as electron microscopic findings confirm that the tumor cells are neoplastic histiocytes. It is concluded, also on the basis of the anamnestical data, that the eye tumors represent the ocular manifestation of a systemic blastomatosis.
