Abstract

Summary

In this study, 26 patients were treated with 20 mg cisplatin (CP)/m² body surface daily for 5 days as part of a combination therapy for testicular cancer. Simultaneously a vigorous hyperhydration (3000 ml daily) was applied to reduce the nephrotoxic effect induced by the drug, ¹³¹I-orthoiodohippurate clearance values obtained by the modified method of Oberhausen did not show any significant evidence of tubular dysfunction after therapy. These results may have been due to the vigorous hydration as well as to the youth of the patients.

Zusammenfassung

In der vorliegenden Studie untersuchten wir 26 Patienten, die mit Cisplatin (CP) aufgrund eines Hodentumors behandelt wurden. Es wurden täglich 20 mg CP/m² Körperoberfläche über die Dauer von 5 Tagen als Teil einer kombinierten Chemotherapie verabreicht. Gleichzeitig erfolgte eine intensive Hydratation (3000 ml täglich), um den nephrotoxischen Effekt des Zytostatikums zu reduzieren. Zwischen den Werten der ¹³¹I-Orthohippursäure-Clearance vor und nach Chemotherapie bestand kein signifikanter Unterschied, der als Hinweis auf einen tubulären Schaden gelten könnte. Die Nierenclearance wurde nach der modifizierten Oberhausenschen Methode durchgeführt. Unsere guten Resultate dürften auf die intensive Hydratation, aber auch auf das vorwiegend jugendliche Alter der Patienten zurückzuführen sein.
