A Computer-Based I.V. Admixture System^[*]

A computer-based i. v. admixture program, which forms part of a general hospital information system, has simplified Beth Israel Hospital pharmacy functions and information processing and allowed the pharmacy to increase output without hiring additional employees. It minimizes clerical functions, incorporates new and discontinued orders into the work flow, sorts medications for batch preparation, provides billing information, and allows interactive retrieval of prescriptions and related clinical data.

Ein Computer-unterstützes i. v.-Beimischungssystem, das ein Teil eines allgemeinen Krankenhausinformationssystems ist, hat die pharmazeutischen Funktionen und die Informationsverarbeitung im Beth Israel Hospital vereinfacht und es der Apotheke ermöglicht, ihre Leistung ohne die Einstellung zusätzlichen Personals zu erhöhen. Es reduziert die Bürotätigkeiten auf ein Minimum, ordnet neue und nicht fortgesetzte Bestellungen in den Arbeitsfluß ein, sortiert Verschreibungen, bietet Informationen zur Rechnungslegung und gestattet die interaktive Wiederauffindung von Verschreibungen und verwandten klinischen Daten.
