There were several positive statistics for the journal in the year 2019. Submission numbers increased from 136 in 2016, 122 in 2017, 122 in 2018, 115 in 2019 to 124 in the first half of 2020. The authors are widely distributed across North and South America, Europa, Asia-Pacific, and Africa. Total full text HTML and PDF downloads of the articles in 2020 were more than 41000, compared with approximately 10000 in 2014, 13000 in 2015, 17000 in 2016, 20000 in 2017, and 33000 in 2019. Till May 31, 2020, we have recorded 20600 downloads of the articles. Total abstract viewings were more than 106700 in 2019 and till May 31, 2020, the count has already reached 61000, compared with 15000 in 2014 and 2015, 37000 in 2016, 52000 in 2017, and 67000 in 2018. Total access of the full text of the journal by content age was 42% of the articles were published between 2012–2017 and 58% were published in 2018 and 2019. If these downloaded articles were directly related to reference entries in other papers, it would affect the future impact factor of the journal. These positive statistics strongly indicate that the journal is drawing the interest of wrist surgeons and wrist investigators across the globe.

However, the journal still requires more higher quality papers. The journal normally has one “special review” for a specific interesting topic apart from stimulating scientific articles, surveys, and meta-analyses of procedures, emerging technologies, new technological concepts, and case reports. The journal will publish six issues a year. In 2021, we plan to introduce the “special review section” in one of the issues which would be composed of three to four articles concentrating on a given topic such as “Kienböck disease,” “wrist anatomy,” or “wrist biomechanics.” Please connect with me via e-mail for any topic with authors' list for the new section before submission. My assistant editors, editorial boards, and I are working hard to obtain a good impact factor in 2021. I promise that the journal will be (1) maintaining high quality with respect to published papers, (2) establishing a smooth review process, (3) creating a very efficient editorial board, and (4) hopefully obtaining a good journal impact factor in the near future.

In this issue, the “special review” is “Arthroscopic trapeziectomy and suture button suspensionplasty: a review of the literature and description of the “three-step arthroscopic trapeziectomy technique” by Dr Corella. Insightful wrist papers on capsulodesis, ultrasound assessment of blood flow of vascularized pedicle, treatment of intra-articular distal radius fracture and distal radioulnar joint (DRUJ) arthroplasty, interesting case reports, and systematic review for failed wrist arthroplasty are also included in this issue. Do not miss this opportunity!
