Viele Operationen aus dem allgemein- und viszeralchirurgischen Spektrum sind ohne Abstriche bei der Qualität und der Patientensicherheit auch ambulant durchführbar. Diese Form der operativen Versorgung entspricht häufig dem Patientenwunsch und ist heute integraler Bestandteil der medizinischen Versorgung in Deutschland. In einem früheren Heft wurden die juristischen Aspekte, die Organisation, Indikation, Patientenauswahl und -sicherheit dargestellt [1]. Dieser Beitrag betrachtet moderne regional- und lokalanästhetische Techniken und Konzepte, die eine wichtige Voraussetzung für die ambulante Chirurgie darstellen.
