Der durchschnittliche Zahnarzt wird in seinem Berufsleben zwischen 5 und 7 lebensbedrohliche Notfälle bewältigen müssen [1] . Respiratorische Notfälle treten beim Zahnarzt besonders häufig auf und reichen von der Hyperventilation über eine unklare Atemnot bis hin zur lebensbedrohlichen partiellen oder vollständigen Atemwegsverlegung mit Reanimation ([Tab. 1]).
