Weltweit ist die Prävalenz allergischer Erkrankungen bei Kindern und Erwachsenen über die letzten Jahrzehnte drastisch gestiegen. Eine allergische Sensibilisierung lässt sich bereits im Kleinkind- oder Säuglingsalter nachweisen. Dieser Beitrag zeigt die verschiedenen Risikofaktoren auf und stellt Präventionsstrategien sowie -maßnahmen vor.

Kernaussagen
  • Eine frühe Prävention für allergische Erkrankungen ist eine wichtige Maßnahme zur Reduktion der hohen Prävalenz im Kindesalter.

  • Eine abwechslungsreiche Ernährung in der Schwangerschaft – ohne Karenz bestimmter Nahrungsmittel – sowie eine ausgewogene Ernährung in früher Kindheit (inklusive Stillen) ist für Kinder ohne Allergierisiko sinnvoll.

  • Ebenso ist für diese Kinder die Einführung von Beikost ab dem 5. Lebensmonat angebracht.

  • Für Kinder mit erhöhtem Risiko ist Stillen ebenfalls sinnvoll. Alternativ kann die Gabe von HA-Milch erfolgen. Auch das Einführen von Beikost ist bei diesen Kindern zu empfehlen.

  • Eine Nahrungsmittelkarenz sollte nur nach Vorstellung bei einem Spezialisten und einer Allergietestung durchgeführt werden. Zukünftige Ergebnisse zahlreicher Studien lassen in den nächsten Jahren konkretere Empfehlungen erwarten.

  • Hinsichtlich der Umweltexposition schützen der frühe Kontakt zum Bauernhofmilieu, ältere Geschwister sowie ein früher Besuch einer Kita vor Allergien.

  • Passivrauch, schädliche Innenraumexposition – wie Schimmel, Feuchtigkeit – sowie Luftverschmutzung zu vermeiden bzw. reduzieren sind sinnvolle Maßnahmen, die bereits zu einer Reduktion allergischer Erkrankungen beitragen können.

  • Infektionen der Atemwege durch Viren sind als Risikofaktor für das Asthma bekannt und werden derzeit weiter bez. möglicher Präventionsstrategien untersucht.
