Mit Beginn des 21. Jahrhunderts nahm der Siegeszug der hochfesten Zirkoniumdioxid-(ZrO2-)Keramiken als echte Alternative für metallgetragenen Zahnersatz, ohne Indikationsgrenzen beachten zu müssen, seinen Anfang. Inzwischen befindet sich die 3. Generation an hochfesten Keramiken auf dem Markt (▶ Tab. 1).
