This review deals with selective preparative methods for aromatic compounds, such as some phenolic compounds, 1,2-di- and 1,2,3-trisubstituted benzenes, 2-substituted biphenyls, 10,11-dihydro-5H-dibenzo [a,d]cycloheptene, [2,2]metacyclophanes, and carbazoles using t-butyl groups and halogen atoms, such as bromine and iodine, as protective groups. 1.
