4-Trifluoromethyl-1,3-oxazolidine-2,5-diones are alkylated on treatment with sodium hydride/alkyl iodide to yield N-alkyl trifluoromethyl Leuchs anhydrides. Dipeptide esters with N-alkyl α-trifluoromethyl α-amino acids in the N-terminal position are obtained on reaction of N-alkyl TFM Leuchs anhydrides with amino acid esters.
