Summary

External forces on the phalanxes of fingers 1 - 2 and 1 - 3 have been tested in 520 women and 304 men hands. An original prototype testing device „The HAN_v_1.0 Computer System” has been applied for tests. One of the device's sensors - DMP (name given to the sensor, see fig. [5] and [6]) - is used for checking fingertip and pinching grips. In case of both grips a statistically important drop of force on phalanxes has been found for a rheumatoid hand in comparison with a healthy one. In case of healthy women the force of the fingertip grip of fingers 1 - 2 amounted to 207 (n), in case of the women suffering from RA it was only 24 (n). In case of men the values were 289 (n) and 36 (n) respectively. Similar differences were found for the grip of fingers 1 - 3. In case of healthy women the force of the pinching grip of fingers 1 - 2 amounted to 296 (n), in case of the women suffering from RA it was only 34 (n). In case of men the values were 455 (n) and 57 (n) respectively. The external forces biggest value has been observed in a rheumatoid hand for the thickness of 19 mm. Such information is very important for the producers of tools and various devices used in a day-to-day activity. No statistically important difference between the forces in grips with fingers 1 - 2 and 1 - 3 has been observed. Such information is important for the physiotherapists.
