Introduction

Gastrointestinal endoscopy has made enormous progress during the last few years. Novel imaging modalities as well as fascinating new therapeutic options seem to rapidly become realities. It seems worthwhile to review the highlights of our journal in the past year, compared with the rest of the literature as well as with recent congress abstracts; the conclusions I draw are necessarily subjective.
