High Calcitonin Levels in Polytrauma Patients with Head Injury and Fracture

Abstract

Patients with head injuries have frequently been observed to have an abundant healing response to fractures. The objective of this study was to evaluate serum calcitonin level changes in such patients. Serum calcitonin level on the second day of admission was found to be significantly increased in patients with head injury (p < 0.001 using single factor ANOVA test).
