Summary
Taken together, these reports suggest that intramedullary nailing resulted in more
complications compared with plate fixation for humeral shaft fractures, particularly
when the antegrade approach was used. These reports do not provide strong evidence
for the superiority of either fixation method with regard to fracture union, prevention
of infection, or overall upper extremity function.
