After the 1990 revolution in Lithuania, new changes have started, not only in the
politics, economy and education of the country, but also in the field of medicine.
During the soviet times the doctors were not allowed to give all the information to
the patient about cancer. Therefore, the physicians are not used to talk openly with
the patients about it. In the families people avoid to talk about death. During the
last ten years physicians' understanding and attitude concerning giving the information
(diagnosis) have changed. However, nowadays not always information concerning oncological
diagnosis is given. In Oncological Hospital the research was pursued concerning patient's
reaction to the acknowledgement of full information about their oncological disease.
