Abstract
Low back pain often occur when extending the vertebral column. In standing the extension
is transmitted to the hip joints. Limited hip extension can lead to increased lumbal
movement. Compared to healthy subjects, patients with low back pain show limited hip
extension as well as weakness and changed activation of the gluteus maximus muscle.
The few published studies concerning this subject recommend examination and training
of the gluteus maxiums muscle in patients with low back pain as indicated.
