Zusammenfassung

In der vorliegenden Studie wurde der Zusammenhang zwischen dem Bindungsmuster 18 Monate alter Kinder und deren Schlafstörungen im Alter von 30 Monaten untersucht. Hierbei wurden sicher gebundene mit unsicher-vermeidend gebundenen Kindern verglichen und Assoziationen mit der Bindungsdesorganisation untersucht. Insgesamt nahmen 62 gesunde, erstgeborene Kinder und ihre Eltern an der Erhebung teil. Das Bindungsmuster wurde im Fremde-Situations-Test beurteilt. Kindliche Schlafstörungen wurden durch ein kinder- und jugendpsychiatrisches Elterninterview erfasst. Sicher gebundene Kinder hatten häufiger kombinierte Ein- und Durchschlafstörungen. Die Desorganisation des Kindes stand in keinem Zusammenhang mit Schlafstörungen. Zusätzlich wurde die Rolle der Selbststimulation (Daumenlutschen, Schnuller) betrachtet. Alle Kinder, die im Alter von 30 Monaten eine ausgeprägte Selbststimulation zeigten, waren unsicher gebunden. Es wurde angenommen, dass die unsicher (überwiegend vermeidend) gebundenen Kinder in den abendlichen und nächtlichen Trennungssituationen negativen Affekt und Bindungsverhalten unterdrücken, daher beim (Wieder-)Einschlafen nicht nach den Eltern verlangen.

Abstract

The study presented addresses the association between 18-months-olds' attachment quality and subsequent sleeping problems at 30 months. The sample consisted in 62 healthy, firstborn children and their primary caregivers. Attachment quality was assessed using Ainsworths' Strange Situation Procedure. Sleeping disorders were diagnosed conducting a standardized psychiatric interview with the mothers. Securely attached toddlers showed sleeping problems more often than insecurely-avoidant attached ones. Attachment disorganization was not related to sleeping problems. Analyzing the impact of self-stimulation behavior (i. e. thumb or pacifier sucking) it could be demonstrated that all 30-months-olds who showed self-stimulating behavior were insecurely-avoidant attached to their primary caregiver. Thus, insecure-avoidant toddlers might incline to suppress attachment behavior and negative emotions when being separated from parent in the evening and night hours.
