Significance

The use of heterogeneous recyclable Pd/C catalyst in cross-coupling reactions allows reducing the costs of the process as well as facilitates the purification of the products. This is a new development in this field, showing the possibility to use heterogeneous catalysis for the coupling of highly sensitive 2-iodoenones. As usual with boron cross-coupling, practically all functional groups are tolerated, and a broad range of arylboronic acids can be used. Arylboron analogs like sodium tetraphenylborate can also be involved in the reaction.
