Abstract

Radiological methods are indispensable in the diagnosis of cerebrovascular diseases. Due to the increasing availability of MR and multislice CT scanners, MR and CT angiography have been established as standards for the diagnosis of cerebrovascular diseases. Conventional catheter angiography has been replaced for many indications but is becoming increasingly important in the minimally invasive treatment of cerebrovascular diseases. This article briefly reviews the technical basics of MRA and CTA and then focuses on the practical use and impact of these methods in the diagnosis of cerebrovascular diseases.
