Abstract
Proximal fractures of the radius are infrequent injuries in the pediatric patient.
This paper describes several types of isolated fractures of the head and neck of the
radial bone as well as treatment methods for these injuries. The study is based on
the data of 98 child and adolescent patients treated in the Clinic of Pediatric Surgery
and Traumatology at the Medical University of Lublin and the Clinic of Traumatology
at the Medical University of Lublin between the years 1986 and 2003. Radial fractures
are categorized according to the age and gender of the patient, and whether the left
or right arm is affected. We have found a correlation between several types of fractures
and the patients' stage of development. We now present the results of our treatment.
