Summary
Short history of the new remedy Nepenthes, an insectivorous plant, growing in the tropic forests around the Indian Ocean. Voisin, in his MM gives the following characteristic indication for Nepenthes: "Sudden prostration (weakness) in the afternoon, in depression". A comparison of the proving of Nepenthes with clinical cases, concerning depressive patients, veri-fies a number of pathogenetic and clinical depressive Symptoms. Especially the Symptom of the sudden prostration weakness in the afternoon can be considered as a characteristic keynote of Nepenthes and invites to study the whole remedy in such cases.
