Abstract
From the aerial parts of Xanthium strumarium, three new xanthanolide and xanthane-type sesquiterpenoids, 11α,13-dihydroxanthatin
(2), 4β,5β-epoxyxanthatin-1α,4α-endoperoxide (3), and 1β,4β,4α,5α-diepoxyxanth-11(13)-en-12-oic acid (10) have been isolated, together with seven known compounds. The structures were determined
by spectroscopic methods, particularly high resolution 1D, 2D NMR spectroscopy and
NOE experiments.
