(Malpighiaceae) is used in Mexican traditional medicine for the treatment of nervous excitment. A methanolic extract from its aerial parts (MEGA) was tested in several neuropharmacological animal models including among others: hypothermic activity, barbiturate potentation, protection against strychnine- and leptazol-induced convulsions. The combined data obtained from all biological models demonstrate the sedative property of this plant product. Key words Galphimia glauca - sedative - anticonvulsivant PDF (211 kb)
