Das Charles Bonnet-Syndrom

Abstract

The Charles Bonnet syndrome represents an organic hallucinosis charaeterized by the appearance of visual hallucinations in otherwise sane elderly people. As a specific organic factor, a reduced visual acuity due to ophthalmologic disorder can be found in the majority of patients. Clinical, psychopathological and pathogenetic aspects of the Charles Bonnet syndrome are discussed by the means of a review of 46 cases reported in the literature (including an own case observation).

Zusammenfassung

Das Charles Bonnet-Syndrom ist eine organische Halluzinose, die durch bei normalem Bewußtsein auftretende visuelle Halluzinationen bei psychiatrisch sonst unauffälligen älteren Personen gekennzeichnet ist. Als spezifischer organischer Faktor läßt sich in der Mehrzahl der Fälle eine Visusminderung infolge einer ophthalmologischen Erkrankung nachweisen. Anhand einer Literaturübersicht über 46 Fälle (einschließlich einer eigenen Fallbeobachtung) werden klinische, psychopathologische und pathogenetische Aspekte des Charles Bonnet-Syndroms dargestellt.
