We report on the case of a 61-year-old woman with a pedunculated esophageal tumor
that had a central ulceration. Histology of the resected tumor revealed adenoid cystic
carcinoma which was localized entirely in the submucosal layer. The tumor was composed
predominantly of solid nests of tumor cells, with some areas showing a cribriform
pattern.
