  • Körperliche Symptome wie Rückenschmerzen, Kopfschmerzen, Bauchbeschwerden, Schwindel und Brustschmerzen sind in der Mehrzahl der Fälle nicht eindeutig auf organische Grunderkrankungen zurückzuführen. Ca. 20 % aller Arztbesuche gehen auf Patienten mit somatoformen Symptomen zurück.

  • Insgesamt gehören somatoforme Störungen zu den häufigsten psychischen Störungen in Europa.

  • Gewissermaßen Prototyp der somatoformen Störungen ist die Somatisierungsstörung (F45.0), die bei Patienten mit multiplen körperlichen Beschwerden, die über mindestens zwei Jahre persistieren, diagnostiziert wird.

  • Insgesamt lassen sich die somatoformen Störungen in drei Hauptgruppen aufteilen. Zur größten Gruppe zählen die Patienten mit multiplen körperlichen Beschwerden. Die zweite Gruppe umfasst Patienten mit eng umschriebener Symptomatik, während die dritte Gruppe aus Patienten mit Hypochondrie und körperdysmorphen Störungen besteht.

  • Die häufigsten komorbiden Störungen sind depressive Störungen und Angststörungen.

  • Mit somatoformen Beschwerden gehen sowohl bestimmte psychophysiologische Aktivierungsprozesse als auch spezifische kognitive Stile einher.

  • Die Behandlung der somatoformen Störungen umfasst sowohl die kompetente organmedizinische als auch die psychotherapeutische Behandlung. Hier haben sich kognitiv-behaviorale Therapieelemente bewährt.

  • Der Einsatz von Psychopharmaka ist beim Somatisierungssyndrom im engeren Sinne nicht ausreichend belegt, kann jedoch bei der Hypochondrie und der körperdysmorphen Störung sinnvoll sein.
