Nasal glial heterotopia (nasal glioma) is a rare congenital malformation of neural
origin. We present a newborn baby with life-threatening respiratory distress secondary
to nasopharyngeal glial heterotopia that obstructed the nasopharyngeal or nasal airway.
A high degree of suspicion, early diagnosis and surgical management are essential
to cure this rare and potentially life-threatening disorder.
