Korrelation zwischen transversaler Expansion und Zunahme des Zahnbogenumfangs nach forcierter Gaumennahterweiterung

Zusammenfassung

Ziel der vorliegenden Studie war die Bestimmung der Korrelation zwischen transversaler Expansion und Zunahme des Zahnbogenumfangs nach forcierter Gaumennahterweiterung. Dazu wurden von 18 Patienten Studienmodelle vor Behandlungsbeginn und fünf Monate nach Gaumennahterweiterung angefertigt. Mit einer digitalen Schieblehre wurde an den Fotokopien der Studienmodelle der Intermolarenabstand, der Intereckzahnabstand, die Zahmbogenlänge und der Zahnbogenumfang gemessen. Nach Berechnung der Fehlerbreite wurde ein multiples Regressionsmodell nach der Best-Subset-Methode entwickelt. Die so erhaltene Regressionsgleichung ergab, dass der Platzgewinn im Zahnbogen ungefähr die Summe des 0,54-fachen der Verbreiterung des Intereckzahnabstands plus des 0,87-fachen der Vergrößerung der Zahnbogenlänge ist.

Abstract

The purpose of the present study was to assess the correlation between transverse expansion and the increase in upper arch perimeter, after maxillary expansion. Dental casts of eighteen patients were obtained before treatment and again five months after maxillary expansion. Measurements of intermolar width, intercanine width, arch length and arch perimeter were made with a digital caliper on photocopies taken from the dental casts. After assessment of the method error, a multiple regression model was developed following the identification of the best subset of variables. The resulting equation led to the conclusion that the increase in arch perimeter is approximately given by the addition of 0.54 times the intercanine expansion, and 0.87 times the arch length alteration.
