Zusammenfassung
Die Studie vergleicht die therapeutischen Effekte von Laserakupunktur und medikamentöser
Therapie bei der COB des Pferdes. Untersuchungen an 60 Pferden zeigten, dass durch
Laserakupunktur ein der kombinierten Arzneimitteltherapie äquivalenter Effekt zu erzielen
ist. Bei den klinischen Befunden wies die Akupunktur sogar einen stärkeren Behandlungseffekt
auf.
Summary
60 horses with Recurrent Airway Obstruction (RAO) were randomised either to a daily
therapy with a fixed drug combination of glucocorticoids, sympathomimetics, and secretolytics
or laser acupuncture and treated for 7 days. The results of this study show an equivalent
efficiency of laser-acupuncture treatment and combined drug treatment in horses suffering
from RAO. With statistical significance, the laser-acupuncture group showed better
improvement in clinical parameters than the medical treatment group. Laser acupuncture
is a promising alternative to conventional treatment strategies. Further trials should
compare long-term results.
