Results from 49 patients with 59 humeral shaft fractures treated with a functional
plastic sleeve demonstrated rapid and uneventful healing. Good alignment of the fractures
was maintained, union rate was high, and the majority of patients demonstrated good
range of motion. Early functional activity to the entire extremity appears to contribute
to timely and uninterrupted osteogenesis.
