Pathomechanismen der Osteoarthrose

Abstract

Osteoarthrosis may be described as a pathological process occurring in consequence of the fact that structures highly differentiated both functionally and morphologically are excessively exposed to prolonged and, at times, severe mechanical strain and that, in addition, there are a number of factors which are liable not only to aggravate this strain but also to compromise the survival of the hyaline cartilage.

The clinical symptomatology can be mainly accounted for by the secondary synovitis occurring in cases of osteoarthrosis. It is at this secondary synovitis that drug therapy should be aimed, whereas the osteoarthrosis itself calls for either conservative or surgical measures.

Zusammenfassung

Der arthrotische Prozeß ist die Konsequenz, die sich daraus ergibt, daß funktionell und morphologisch hochdifferenzierte Strukturen exzessiver Dauer- und Spitzenbelastung ausgesetzt sind und daß eine Reihe zusätzlicher Faktoren einerseits die mechanischen Einflüsse verstärken, zum anderen aber die Überlebensfähigkeit des hyalinen Gelenkknorpels beeinträchtigen können.

Die klinische Symptomatik wird im wesentlichen von der sekundär ausgelösten Synovitis geprägt. Sie ist das Ziel medikamentöser Therapie, während die eigentliche Arthrose konservative oder operative Maßnahmen erfordert.
