Die operative Behandlung von Wirbelsäulenveränderungen bei Polyarthritis
Surgical Treatment of Vertebral Column Changes in Rheumatoid ArthritisPublication History

Abstract
Recent publications and our own experience allow us to conclude that in future, stabilization by surgery of instability signs in the cervical vertebral column may be performed more often than previously. However, since such operations are on the whole by no means frequent, besides being technically complicated and not without risk, they should be left to the discretion of a few rheumatologic orthopaedists with great experience in this particular field. This applies in even greater measure to osteotomies performed in the lumbar and cervical regions for the purpose of restoring the upright position of the spine.
