Summary

A review is presented of 44 cases of spinal meningioma. Analyses of the data collected indicated that early diagnosis may prevent irreversible neurological deficit and enhances the chance for full recovery after Operation. The results obtained in elderly patients were very encouraging. The difficulties involved in making a correct early diagnosis are stressed. The finding of scoliosis in 40 per cent of the patients is noteworthy.

Zusammenfassung

Es werden 44 spinale Meningeome beschrieben. Die Analyse der gesammelten Befunde zeigt, daß eine frühe Diagnose irreversible neurologische Schäden vermeiden und die Chance zur völligen postoperativen Erholung nach der Operation verbessern kann. Die Schwierigkeiten einer exakten frühen Diagnose werden besprochen. Bemerkenswert ist die Skoliose bei 40% der Patienten.
