Abstract

The rare finding of a cecal fecalith in an 8-year-old child is described together with a review of similar cases. These indicate not only the difficulty of diagnosis, but the dilemma faced by the surgeon at the operation.

Zusammenfassung

Der seltene Befund eines zökalen Fäkolithen bei einem 8 Jahre alten Kind wird zusammen mit einem Überblick über ähnliche Fälle beschrieben. Sie verdeutlichen nicht allein die Schwierigkeit der Diagnose, sondern auch das Dilemma, dem sich der Chirurg bei der Operation gegenüber sieht.
