Abstract

Extra- and intrapericardial teratomas in neonates and very young infants are discussed. An extrapericardial teratoma giving rise to urgent respiratory symptoms directly after birth and an intrapericardial teratoma presenting with gastrointestinal symptoms at the age of 61/2 weeks are described. Excision of the tumour was followed in both cases by complete recovery. The literature is reviewed.

Zusammenfassung

Es werden die extra- und intraperikardialen Teratome bei Neugeborenen und sehr jungen Kindern besprochen. Ein extraperikardiales Teratom, das gleich nach der Geburt Atemstörungen verursachte, und ein intraperikardialcs Teratom, das 61/2 Wochen nach der Geburt gastrointestinale Symptome auslöste, werden beschrieben. Die Exzision des Tumors führte in beiden Fallen zu vollständiger Wiederherstellung. Es wird eine Übersicht über die Literatur gegeben.
