Idiopathic Gastric Perforation in the Neonate

Abstract

Idiopathic gastric perforation is described in eight neonates seen at the Hospital for Sick Children, Great Ormond Street, since 1964. The relevant literature is reviewed and aetiology is discussed. It is suggested some of the idiopathic gastric perforations may be due to necrotising enterocolitis.

Zusammenfassung

Eine idiopathische Magenperforation wurde seit 1964 am Hospital for Sick Children, Great Ormond Street, bei 8 Neugeborenen beobachtet. Die entsprechende Literatur wurde durchgesehen und die Ätiologie besprochen. Es wird vermutet, daß einige der idiopathischen Magenperforationen durch eine nekrotisierende Enterokolitis bedingt sein könnten.
