– parodontale Grunddiagnostik,
– Risikofaktoren (Systemerkrankungen, Rauchen, Stress),
– mikrobiologische Diagnostik, Parodontitisrisikotest,
– Defektmorphologie,

Abstract

Current developments in the treatment of periodontitis have paved the way for combined therapeutic approaches. Objective parameters are used to select the most appropriate strategy. The following parameters are essential for treatment planning:
– baseline periodontal diagnosis,
– risk factors (systemic diseases, smoking, psychological stress),
– microbiological diagnosis and periodontal risk assessment,
– defect morphology,
– prosthetics, function and occlusion,
– implant conditions.
This diagnostic approach enables us to create risk profiles and assess the prognosis of individual patients. Predictable results can be obtained by combining diagnosis with tooth surface optimization, antibacterial therapy and regenerative periodontal surgery. Disregarding these criteria is a common source of treatment failure. Quality assurance is implemented to minimize errors in treatment. This is accomplished by relying on straightforward and reproducible treatment concepts, as well as by using simple checklists for clinicians to review their own treatment steps.
