Significance

Dendrimer-stabilized palladium nanoparticles (GnDenP-Pd) were prepared by the reduction of [Pd(acac)2] with hydrogen in the presence of dendrimer phosphine ligands (GnDenP) in THF (eq. 1). GnDenP-Pd were applied to the Suzuki reaction of aryl halides with arylboronic acids (eq. 2), the Stille reaction of aryl halides with aryl-(tributyl)stannanes (eq. 3), and the hydrogenations of various unsaturated compounds (eq. 4) to give the corresponding products in 80-100% yields. G3DenP-Pd (0.001 mol% Pd) promoted the Suzuki reaction of bromobenzene with phenylboronic acid to give biphenyl in 65% yield (96 h) whose turnover number was 65,000.
