Significance

A novel stereospecific synthesis of 2-aryl-2-oxazin-6-ones via Co-catalyzed carbon­ylation of oxazolines is described. 4-Substituted oxazolines react with clean inversion and 5-substituted oxazolines with complete retention of the stereoinformation at the chiral center.
