Significance

The catalytic version of the arsine-mediated cyclopropanation reaction is developed using tosylhydrazone salts in the presence of a rhodium catalyst. Good yields and high trans selectivity are obtained for a number of substrates. The proposed mechanism is well supported by the formation and suppression of byproducts.
