ABSTRACT

Over the last decade, the use of scientific method in combination with industrial advances have allowed bone graft surgeons to overcome many of the challenges facing them. However, these advances have also posed new problems that, it is hoped, will eventually be overcome through refinements in methodology and technique. As surgeons venture beyond pure technique and become involved in basic science, they will achieve a greater understanding of bone healing. Therefore, enhancement and augmentation become the future direction for bone graft healing as the challenge we have for the new millennium.
