Prenatal screening is an effective way to prevent genetic disease in pediatric populations.
The prenatal amniocentesis and chromosome study is a widely used screening test. Here,
the author reports the data on this screening from Thailand as a national reference.
The rate of detected disorders is equal to 3.88 percent and the most common disorder
is Down syndrome. It can be seen that the implementation of screening can help successfully
prevent a number of genetic disorders in Thai pediatric population.
