Melioidosis is a rare potentially fatal infection caused by the bacterium Burkholderia
pseudomallei, which is endemic in Southeast Asia and Northern Australia and an emerging
pathogen in India. It is a largely under-diagnosed disease and an imitator of tuberculosis,
both clinically and radiologically.
