Vitamin-D-Supplementierung: möglicher Gewinn an Lebensjahren bei gleichzeitiger Kostenersparnis

Gleich 3 Metaanalysen klinischer Studien kamen in den letzten Jahren zu dem Ergebnis, dass eine Vitamin-D-Supplementierung mit einer Verringerung der Sterberate an Krebs um etwa 13% einherging. Diese Ergebnisse übertrugen Wissenschaftler im Deutschen Krebsforschungszentrum (DKFZ) nun auf die Situation in Deutschland und errechneten: Bei einer Vitamin-D-Supplementierung aller Deutschen über 50 Jahre könnten möglicherweise bis zu 30 000 Krebstodesfälle pro Jahr vermieden und mehr als 300 000 Lebensjahre gewonnen werden – bei gleichzeitiger Kostenersparnis [1].
