Keywords
single atom catalysis - copper catalysis - C–S coupling - thioethers
Significance
Atomically dispersed Cu supported on a mesoporous carbon nitride (CuSA@mpgCN) was prepared according to equation 1. CuSA@mpgCN catalyzed the C−S coupling of thiols and aryl iodides in the presence of K2CO3 in 1,4-dioxane at 110 °C for 8 hours to afford the corresponding thioethers in up
to 92 % yield (eq. 2).
Comment
In the C−S coupling of benzyl mercaptan and iodobenzene, the catalyst was recovered
by centrifugation and reused four times without a significant loss of its catalytic
activity. XRD, BET, XPS, and ICP-OES analyses of the recovered catalyst showed no
obvious change in its morphology.
