Significance
Recent advances showing the utility of ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) using catalyst 2 for the graft-through polymerization of a variety of norbornene-terminated macromonomers led to brush homo- and copolymers with high degrees of polymerization (DPs) and low polydispersity indices (PDIs). Hence, using catalyst 2 once more, the authors have synthesized the first example of bivalent-bottle-brush polymers 3 capable of simultaneous photoregulated release of anticancer drugs doxorubicin (DOX) and camptothecin (CT) with amazing ease via graft-through ROMP.
