Introduction

Small bowel duplication typically presents before the age of two and can be identified by ultrasound as a cystic lesion with bowel wall signature. We present a gastric mucosal lining ileal duplication cyst in an older child presenting with abdominal pain and anemia. The thick mucosal folds gave the duplication a unique sonographic appearance, and led to the suspicion of gastric mucosal lining duplication as a cause for the chronic bleeding and abdominal pain. For the first time, not only the sonographic images identified a duplication cyst but also correctly identified the specific mucosal lining of the cyst. MRI images of the ileal duplication cyst confirming the diagnosis are shown here as well.
