Osteopathen, die im Sinne von Still und Sutherland mit Kindern arbeiten, sind überzeugt davon, dass eine frühe osteopathische Behandlung eine wichtige Präventionsmaßnahme ist. Es gibt viele Beispiele, welche die Vorteile einer osteopathischen Behandlung bei Säuglingen belegen. Allerdings leben wir in einer Zeit, in der in den allopathischen Disziplinen allein die Evidence Based Medicine zählt. Für eine breite Anerkennung der Osteopathie als sowohl therapeutischen als auch präventiven Ansatz im Gesundheitssystem ist es daher erforderlich, weiter an der Entwicklung glaubwürdiger evidenzbasierter Forschungsresultate zu arbeiten. Daher habe ich mich im Rahmen einer Studie mit den wissenschaftlichen Untersuchungen im Bereich der Osteopathie bei Kindern in den letzten 10 Jahren auseinandergesetzt und stelle die Ergebnisse im Folgenden vor.
