Die Ablation wird genutzt, die Rhythmuskontrolle bei Vorhofflimmern zu erzielen. Aufgrund der Pathophysiologie des paroxysmalen Vorhofflimmerns und der damit hohen Erfolgsrate der Ablation ist sie eindeutig die Primärtherapie des Vorhofflimmerns. Bedingung ist jedoch die Auswahl des geeigneten Patienten.
