Einleitung Hip and knee osteoarthritis significantly impact quality of life. Patient education
is crucial in conservative management and is effective when combined with other interventions,
such as exercises [1]
[2]
[3]
[4]. However, the didactics and methodological approaches are not standardized [5]. This scoping review aims to evaluate these educational methods, identify research
gaps, and determine effective approaches.
Material und Methodik People with osteoarthritis of the hip and knee who have received patient education
alone or with other conservative treatments will be included. Both the didactic methods
and content of the education are analysed. The TIDier checklist items 3 to 8 guide
the analysis, focusing on the setting, personnel, and influencing factors.
Eligible studies include "Clinical Study," "Clinical Trial," and
"Randomised Controlled Trial" published in German or English. No time limit
is set for inclusion, and only published studies are considered.
Embase, Cochrane Library, Medline (via PubMed), and PEDro will be searched. No hand
searches will be performed.
Two independent reviewers will conduct the title and abstract screening, followed
by full-text screening. Discrepancies will be discussed. ChatGPT 4.0 will used additionally
for comparison and research purposes without influencing reviewers' decisions.
Risk of bias assessment will not be performed
Erwartete Ergebnisse The outcome is a qualitative description of the methodological approach to patient
education for hip and knee osteoarthritis patients. The study data are summarised
descriptively and presented clearly for analysis. Data are in a table, showing methodological
and didactic approaches. Items 3 to 8 of the TIDier checklist guide the thematic evaluation.
Quantitative synthesis is not planned for this scoping review.
